My husband and I are Taiko players and belong to a Taiko Community. One day, someone asked this question: “okay-wondering who can explain the origins and significance of what I might ignorantly call the “pom pom pole” that many of us love to include in our taiko performances.” She was referring to what we believe is the Matoi. But Pom-Pom Poles sounded so much fun to watch than Matoi.
